A short time ago Amy Kuttab gave a duo Kate Rose & Stevie Padden a one off, one night only presentation at the Pony Club Gallery. This very special presentation was an installation that put you inside a very small cave where inside, the very quiet Stevie would much like the wizard of Oz appear. Unlike Oz, Stevie would attach you to some electrodes & then seat you to view a digital representation of your brainwaves along with digital sounds controlled by your brainwaves in sync on the forward wall of the cave. Yes it was indeed that rad! I could talk for hours on the feeling you get sitting across from a visual representation of your inner self. It is intense in a most beautiful way! Its concept had already been in a script for a church of awesome thought comic I had devised but not drawn yet, so it was exceptionally strange to be able to live out one of these art fantasies I usually only get to draw.

Short Run Radness!!!

I dont know how to express how totally RAD! The SHort Run festival seriously was!!! I am sad it is over and wish I was still experiencing all of its magic forever. I will most certainly do it again next year!
Dave Nuss at the wheel, Andrice on Shotgun & Jesse passed out on to my side we got on the rode to some crazy tunes! A few hours into the night we stopped for a most elaborate and satiating chow at Quality Burrito in Olympia.
Okay so now we are in Seattle! 1st off, I give my hats off to Seattle hospitality! I am pretty shy to just plant myself somewhere with people i dont know, and Jesse got us (Nuss, he & I) a place that fits that description in order to stay the night prior to the festival. I felt secure knowing I had my doods Jesse & Nuss, but I was still nervouse. We arrived that night to find ouselves in the raddest Victorian picturesque windows for miles everywhere mansion that had a real lived in but magic secret world throught the coat closet feeling! I was in heaven!!! Jesse Found the 2 cats emediatly and had them with there eyes rolling back in there heads in extacy while Nuss kept it rad with his smarts and conversational radness! Our Hostess with the mostess was a Librarian named Allison who also lived in the house with a handful of other people. We only really met a few of them. We slept in 2 connected rooms on some mega cozy couches in rad slumber. By morning I was ready to get awesome but wanted to explore the house so bad! Jesse told me I should wake up Nuss, So i put my Halloween mask on and went running for him & instead found Our Hostess Allison 1st! She didn't seem a bit fazed by this weird display as though me in a mask was much like any other strange & awesome magic that moved through the house. She in the cheeriest tone comfotable in her P.J's asked if I would like some coffee & apples! SOOOO NICE!!!!
Well taken care of we left for the show. Upon arrival we were met with familiar smiles of our pals Jason Fischer & Robin, then through the doors even more smiles from the whole crew that made the festival happen. A gorgeous display of blue ribbon award looking badges that were our name tags, & a delicious t-shirt designed by Mad Max Clotfelter! Solid!!! Then we were hugged by a ton of friends with more smiles! thoroughly hugged we met our tabel & set up! The hours flew by like shinning minutes with epic fun and a crazy amount of sales!!! I maybe sold more then ever!!! MAYBE EVER EVER!!!! It was great! People were just so excited about what we and the fest had going on! Even radder was the crazy amount of people familiar with both Nuss & I's output! Everybody knows Jesse, because he's so rad & he brings the chaos, But people were also excited about Revival House press & My comics! How did they know!? Magic!!!! I also was selling my Pal Graham Kahler's books, who couldn't make it himself, and people were completely enamored with them!!! Everything came to a close faster then I could wiggle some rad fingers in yer face!!!
Before we knew it we were at a cozy dinner at some bar, and then to the Fantagraphics shop Art show that I still cant believe is real & that i was in it!!! WHAT!?!?!? YEAH!!! I got mad compliments all over and was going crazy in the half off back stock room & ended up snaggleizing an arm full of awesome books that I have already started devouring! It was hard to keep your head on, everything was so rad!!! I got to get ridiculous with Seattle buds and home buddies alike, & have a ton of meaningful intelligent conversations all in one crazy bash!!! It was like I lived years of radness in a matter of a couple hours!!!
All In all I am In It To Get Awesome again! Things feel up & I want to cartwheel my way into the great beyond!!!
Lets do this everyday!!!
Thank you Short Run ladies, you are the leaders of the pack!!! Keep It real everyday the the radness lives inside you in the most epic way!

Hey Doods, I thought I would flash this up here again for the coming "Short Run" one day small press expo of mighty proportions in Seattle! At the fest I will have a new mini composed of short church of awesome thought pieces that previously appeared in small run within the pages of anthologies, and some that haven't surfaced in print as of yet. This includes an 8 page color piece that is about another dream Grant winner (familiar from my previous Church of AT dream grant mini).
Above is its cover and an example of within!
Below here is the piece I made that will be at the opening party on the walls of the Fantagraphics Head quarters gallery!!! I may also have a limited run of small prints of this available at my table if you are into that sort of magic! Here is a poorly cropped Teaser for an image that will be extensively colored for an upcoming art show at the Fantagraphics (!!!) Gallery in Seattle WA. The show is in support of the 1st Small press Expo called Short Run, which is in part run by my pal Kelly Froh. I met Froh years back when we were paired for a comics reading at my Multnomah county library. I am extremely excited that she has given me the opportunity to be in this show, I don't know what she see's in me to be so kind but I owe her big time!
I will be tabling at Short Run as well with bro's Dave Nuss who is one of the best small press publishers for my money with Revival House press. He released one of the greatest comics of all time (the second section will be available at Short Run) called Everything Unseen! I am also tabling with Brolordias Jesse Reklaw who will bring the party & the magic (cards)!

Below are some awesome art people made me for my own birthday:) Bak made me this Wylde Birthdaze image that I unfortunately/fortunately (as it was my dream breakfast) got birthday breakfast grease on! It now proudly hangs on my fridge:) Below that are some collaborative cake doods Amy, Andrice, David Youngblood, Caroline smith, Bak & Theo all made me. I wish I could dnace with & slowly devour both of them! AAAAAAAND THEN! Below that is THE FUTURE! Theo said he fashioned this dood to represent all the stuff I love. I can safely say Theo that you captured all of the elements, you fashioned the perfect devotional knee slide pose, you got eyeballs, beast magic, most excellent explosive action vibes and of coarse a most magnificent keytar of synthaliciouse blastular proportions!!! He looks the way I feel about the members of my beloved Earth Wind & Fire:) One day Theo we may have to make a comic of creatures like this loosely based on EW&F & there soul core cosmic adventures in sound in our minds??? I would melt!

I've been feeling very worried, and a great deal of discomfort lately. When the tragic loss that came with my friend Dylan not being with us to guide us with his wisdom with love and a deep care for everything that is beautiful, I feel lost. I feel like I have to work harder now & I can only pull from him in memory & spirit. I cant take the bus to him & play show & tell to feel secure or learn about all of the wonderful things there are to see do and be and share feelings.

What I do know how to do is to come together and create a piece of beauty to hopefully inspire others to feel good, and lend yourself to those you love in support yourself to. Try to create beauty where beauty is fading in an effort to keep it alive because that is all that matters.

In a truly emotional & loving spectacle several friends of Dylan & myself gathered and poured ourselves into making something magic to help bring some love at this very difficult time for Emily who I and I know all of you love so much. Making this image for her was the best I have felt and made me so happy to see my friends working with the same joy passion and care for her. I don't know if it makes sense to create blog post about these things. But I guess what I'm trying to say from this experience is, please everyone come together for each other and try to create beautiful things & be there for each other & find those positive magic moments life has to offer when things are harder then you can have foresight of.

I completed this just a few daze ago. This is a scanned version that is cropped off about a half inch from all sides at the capacity of my scanner. I feel real solid about this magic. It is what I am sending to San Fran for a Fantasy themed art show curated by Elf World creator Francoise Vignault. I am calling this piece "OKO ONO I see rainbows".
Also speaking of OKO, a very special art show opens tonight at the OKO gallery (2774 NW Thurman St. PDX, OR) by a very rad friend named Elizabeth Pusak. You must see it and party with it!!! If you cant make it tonight, the gallery keeps regular hours and is very magic! GO TO IT!!!

I am currently in a post Portland Zine symposium mope. But This mope is different then the usual post PSZ mope. Regularly this event ends and I realize I have suddenly found myself alone and in what seems like immobile silence after spending nearly 3 days (including the Friday prior) going totally insane with friends both from & out of town, putting myself out there for people to judge, purchase, or pass all in the storm of a buzzing convention hall filled with the most stinky beings imaginable. So there is a crash. A lonesome crash, where you don't know what to do. You cant remember how to be alone or without crowd noise & you are not sure if you can or want to be. Its like a break up in a relationship. This time Is different. This time I broke up with PSZ. I found myself on the last day showing up uncharacteristically late and not enthusiastic. I was not excited to see anyone, and the previous day of selling only 2 books before the symposium began that was followed by no sales and no one even looking at my books let alone even engaging me aside from return venders that are friends, left me with little to look forward too. I had just made a new book I had hoped I would sell out of the extremely limited print run i made. It was full color so it needed to make its expenses back. Normally this would be a sure thing, I only made 20 copies which is a normal amount for me to run through at a convention. I also had a bunch of comics I made including "Dream Grant" which is only a few months old and not in a ton of Portland hands. But sure enough no one even batted an eye at any of it aside from the 5 or so out of town venders I only tend to see at these events. By the afternoon on Sunday this had taken its toll & I suddenly was wondering why I was even there. The people walking around purchasing things were only picking up the material that is the typical or even stereotypical fair that one would joke about all zinesters being made of. I suddenly realized, I am not a zinester. Zinesters came up asking for trades & I only did it a couple of times to find myself with material I would never pay attention to. This material seemed to only require a high school level of skill (which is not to say my writing skills are great) & was totally self absorbed. On top of that the "art work " inside was merely a bunch of cut out illustration from various sources used WITHOUT permission, which for me is totally a really offensive punch in the face. I was so mad, and I realized I had just been sitting there surrounded by this, and a bunch of bad vibes coming from my piers loosing money & wasting time that i could be spending making something that is actually rad, and have a rad time! The final blow was when one of my piers was gone from the table & a customer came to buy one of their books & i couldn't find a visible price anywhere (on top of the fact that on day one they said they'd rather not make a table price list to keep things organized). I sold the book for 2 dollars short on accident only to get scolded. I packed up tossed 2 dollars of my own in compensation & walked out of the loading dock after securing some luck & self esteem with the Sparkplug comics table who sells a lot of my books. I was bummed, and now broke from no sales & lots of PSZ partying. I don't want to do this again. This is not my crowd & I am not a salesmen. My self esteem was crushed, feeling like I make garbage that is invisible yet deterrent. My relationship with PSZ & Zines is done. BUT...................... Below is a Monster drawing I started just before leaving, that made me feel a little better!

Then I drew this one as soon as I was settled elsewhere!!! & then I made 2 more monsters!!! It felt good!!! Fuck IT! YEAH!!!

By 2 nights later I had watched BMX Bandits & started the image below for a super rad fantasy themed art show in San Fran that is coming up! IT FEELS GOOD!!!! FANTASY IS GOOD!!! Drawing is good!!!

The Pony Club gallery is filled with ethereal acid house. Amy Kuttab is sitting, floor-haloed in hammers and nails like the patron saint of carpentry (that's Joseph, for those of you that didn't attend Catholic primary). Sean Christensen is trying to decide whether to label a painting "The Big One," or "I Don't Want to Label the Big One."

"Oh, I made this two-hour mixtape for us to hang the show to," Sean Christensen smiles. I snap-label him as the sort of man that makes mixtapes for specific events.

This can be held in comparison with my friend's mother, who always makes tapes labeled, "Cool ___ Vibe." Her reasoning is we could have a "Cool Chill Vibe," a "Cool River Vibe," or a "Cool Scraping Off Wallpaper Vibe" over and over. After today, as far as Sean Christensen is concerned, this mixtape is going to Carousel. (How many Logan's Run references can I make before my internship ends?)

"People love 808 drum machines," I say, trying, as always, to turn the conversation to hiphop. "I remember I thought 808 was an area code for some fancy neighborhood, but it turns out Kelis just loves her drum machine."

"There are a lot of bands with 808 in their name, but I think this was the first one," Christensen educates. Later Christensen and I get into a disagreement about the film Amelie. Amy Kuttab and I valiantly rally around Amelie's honor and I agree to watch Truffaut's Antoine Doinel series. Both Amy Kuttab and Sean Christensen present themselves as people who really know their stuff, but want to tell you about the things they love sweetly. I am not bullied into Truffaut.

With their new show, Serious Mysterious, Kuttab and Christensen open the pages of their very own storybook and present spirits not easily referenced.

"You can't look at it and say, 'That's a unicorn.' Or even, 'That's a crazy-looking unicorn.' Your fantastic creatures don't really have a point of reference," I observe.

"We had the idea and I sort of stuck to it this time," Sean says about his paintings of what may be persons made of black lava or river water or night camo.

Except for the naked women—naked women are something we can reference.

"Oh, good, it looks like they're hugging," I say of Amy Kuttab's painting arrangement.

"Cool, I want them to be hugging," she smiles.

Serious Mysterious will be hanging at Pony Club until August 27, but you should go to the opening tonight, August 4, 6-10 pm. Sounds like it's going to have good music too. Manny Lennox of Atole will be performing solo as Braincrush at 7:30 pm, and Sara Dyberg of Pikara unlocks her fiddle loops and musical hypnosis at 8:00 pm. Pony Club is a collective gallery in the Everett Station Lofts, 652 NW Everett, #105.

Rainbow Orifice & major Beautiful

A short time ago I was asked to find someone to perform a synthesizer set to accompany an animated psychic reading & a new short animated piece by Stefan Gruber. I thought fast and decided with many mixed feeling that this may be the time to have the 1st performance of "Rainbow Orifice & Major beautiful", or myself & Amy Kuttab respectively. We practiced a set that fell somewhere between vangelis's china ablum and shiny balls of water zoloriax.
It was fun to do & I hope to scape it out this way more. Thanks to all who were there in both spirit & the physical. Special thanks to Jesse for sound mixing, and Stefan for trusting us to space out. These are two new images that are mostly finnished for an upcoming art show soon top be announced. I am having a weird time, and times are weird. I don't believe I know how to make things that people will buy and put on there wall and love them. It also would seem I don't know how to make things that people will buy and put under there bed & love. I need to survive on what I thrive on. In the words of the suburban lawns " All action is reaction. Expansion . Contraction. Man the manipulator. . Underwater . Does it matter. Antimatter. Nuclear reactor . Boom boom boom boom"
The other day I was walking down a street and I saw a cat that was laying in what seemed the most natural & perfect of habitats. The cat lay between green foliage so comfortably & regally displayed on a dry bed that was some sort of blond long grass bush. It was beautiful and I was envious. I wanted to be close to that feeling and upon trying to physically bring myself near the cat I disturbed the beauty and he scattered.

BARRACUDA!

These are the 1st images of a very special and very odd thing I happened to do. One day at my day job, I was having another lame out session dreaming of all the things I could be making if I wasnt at my day job, and didnt need to be there. Suddenly one of my co workers who is from Bulgaria originally, leans over and asks if I thought I could draw a fish. I said "of coarse I can draw a fish!" Then she said "what about a very strange looking fish?". She then explained that her rowing team that she coaches, which in Bulgaria was her mane focus and joy had been awarded money for there very own boat by an anonymous donor. The doner explicitly asked that they take pride in the boat and it must have a logo of its own for the team. She and the team decided it must be the "Barracuda", as it fit the essence of the team and the shape of the boat best. Barracuda's are indeed an odd looking long floot of a fish with butterfly like tails and delicate side fins that with all those beautiful attributes are perfectly balanced with a most bizarre and sinister beak with bulging eyes! She said she was hoping for a logo that featured the word Barricuda within the distinct shape of the fish and that her 11 year old daughter had tried very hard but its such a awkward shape she couldnt do it. Also it had to be done by the next morning at 8am! I struggled with all of it at 1st and was like, "Whoa! I don't work under these condition, and I don't have the tools for the job on me here in the land of uncreativity known as the DAY JOB!" But then she smiled and asked if I minded trying just a little something that might help her daughter with it at least. It then struck me, why would I not make this time at the hellish day job dedicated to the secret mission of designing a super strange Barracuda logo and technically be getting paid while doing it to help a friend with there awesome dream outside this hell hole too!!! I went full on into my lunch break and sneaking in pencils from the office I did some covert drawing at the front desk. In about an hours time, I had reached the limit of what I could do with the tools being a # 2 pencil with no sharpener or eraser, a sharpy marker and one nearly dead micron I happened to find in my bag. She got so excited she showed everyone at work and thankfully didn't tell them where and when i did it, and took it straight home to get the process of the early morning printing under way. A week later I was told it was beautiful and about to be in several competitions. The doner's and the team sent me thank you messages and I felt good! Since then the boat has been in a series of competitions that has thus far brought its team to 3rd place in the regional's, taking them to now compete in national rowing competitions! ooooooOOOO!!! BARRACUDA!!!

This (above) action figure I found on the outskirts of Guapo & The Ellsworth dome has been heavily influential on what I have been trying to channel lately. I believe it is going to take me to some very emotionaly perplexing places where animal transends reality and overcomes human society to make peace with the strength of a warrior who's weapons are the wisdom of the past with the perspective of the future.

This is an animation cell I made on display in an art exhibit called Faque Cartunez at Guapo comics & coffee. The show was curated by mega pal and local wize man John Isaacson. The show features a number of buddies, so it would by definition be friendly to go view it while its on display. Peep out some Chris Cilla, Amy Kuttab, Patrick Keck, Andrice Arp, & Daria Tessler among others. Get rad, stay rad, weird summer.

I recently revisited our ancestors again who are still roaming the Portland Zoo. On this visit, I also got to experience these chasms of the past and the animals of the present with my true brother. It was true & real. We witnessed many an odd display. A turle chased one of his roomettes visously nipping at his face and neck. We also saw an ape elder kiss and nuzzle a fecal display he arranged against the wall, to then take it between his lips and reorganize it to again be nuzzled sweetly at a higher place on the wall. Much madness ensued.

Lately I have been trip'n all over thanks to my friends and family. I dont drive so its always magical when I get to run around in the outskirts of my zone at distances that I am usually unable to scale. I got to go to the Olympia comics festival this year and table with mega bro Theo Ellsworth and witch goddess Amy Kuttab. We held down a table and supported Secret Acres publications as well. It was a small affair that had lots of new & old friends coming together. I was able to meet Cullen of Neogliphic media who will soon be putting out an anthology that many of my friends and I are showcased in, (and its full color!!!) so look for that soon. I witnessed an awesome panel that featured my mermaid friend Andrice Arp, where she spoke on 3rd wave feminism. That talk was fun especially the bit about princesses. The pannel ended quite oddly with a man of all things barging in drunk to explain his former ban Bikini kill and talk about kinkos. I got to eat a most fantastic burrito at quality burrito thanks to critter pal Katy ellis o'brien, who gathered a large group of friends for dinner. It was over all a strange balance of fun and odd darkness (the latter I feel I should leave unexplained....... mystery?)

A week after Olympia my reunited Brother Kyle, (who has been abroad in Hong Kong) my parents choldhood friend Aaron & Amy all went to the coast to go camping. My bro, Aaron & I visited the most magical Wax works museum where I have many memmories. A lot of attractions have come and gone since my last visit. I was overjoyed that my far away friend E.T. the extra rad terrestrail was there for me to visit. It had been a long time since we have tried to communicate face to face, let alone our telepathic correspondence which has slowed down as we had both been very busy over the last couple years. I think he and are are going to try to write some new song lyrics together again soon. Going on trips is fun, I hope to have more in the near future:)

Last weekend was the ever growing Stumptown Comics Fest! How do you capture the reality of all of the zones that were experienced between the universes of the odd world of commerce, and the magic world of being a creative being? Its a weird thing to be a part of. I believe Devo expressed what I am feeling best in a song they wrote just shortly after I was born.

Yes, that's how it was. I was surrounded by friends! I was tabling with my mega friend Theo, for his publisher who I was so proud and lucky to represent, "Secret Acres"!!! People were so positive and genuinely excited by everything Secret Acres had to offer, along side Theo and I's individual books and prints. Only one person in the whole festival picked up one of my books and read the whole thing in front of me (Cover to cover) loving it the whole way through, and walked away without buying anything, (most obnoxious behavior in the world!) which normally happens like a million times. "Play Overlord", the collaborative comic between Theo Ellsworth, Amy Kuttab, and myself sold out! That's right, we gotta make more, they are all gone!!! It fealt great!!! There is love in this world!!!
The only thing that was a mega bummer to see was that for some reason The festival organizers faced the back right wall of tablers so they were staring directly at the convention room brick wall, away from all of the festival!!! One of Portlands best comic talents Chris Cilla had to stare at brick as though he was in jail while the festival went on behind him! Yes very lame! Worse was that mega talents and friends Kelly Froh, and the Max Factor Max Clotfelter along with Jason T. Miles Profanity Hill comics table, ironically was facing the wide expanding entrance to the rectally tense men's bathroom!!! What!!!??? Can you believe that??? Thats probably a torture practice in some third world country. Try to sell comics surrounded by the smell of poop and men adjusting there fly with spattering wet hands around you!!! My heart goes out to those doods!
Otherwise it was a totally awesome time full of magic, and laughter! I even had a woman at my table immediately flip to that most embarrassing page (you know the one) where my cute cuddly and very innocent characters (from "what are Crass") unexpectedly engage in a strangely erotic act of projecting liquid from there mouths on each others faces to an orgasmic paralysis. Her eyes immediately widened and I began to sink out of site under the table! But unexpectedly instead of running screaming, she laughed and looked me in the face as I apologized, and she said , "No way, I was just about to do this to you"! YES!!! It truly is a beautiful world we live in,

Comics Are coming!!!

Yeah Doods! Thats right, the two new comics ready for your eyez are printed and prepared to be gotten starting at the Guapo Comics and Coffee Stumptown opening party!!! Play Overlord is the new collaborative comic series made by Theo Ellsworth, Amy Kuttab and myself. This 1st issue also has a bonus comic made between Jesse & Theo, about a Slide man!!! The whole comic is 40 pages in totally rad vision!!!
At the Guapo comics party we will be reading a selection of Play Overlord live in voices!!!

The Dream Grant is another 40 page comic made just by me for you! This is a story that is part of my CHURCH OF AWESOME THOUGHT series. This one follows Hermana and her student roommates as she gets chosen to make her dreams into art!!!

Stumptown comics fest is coming up again in your face!!! To open the party on April 15th Guapo Comics & coffee will be holding down a mega bash to get everything going and feeling rad! At the party you can witness the ever awesome Maisie Kukoc awards for comics. You will be surrounded by cartoonists from all over and get to see multimedia comic readings by many awesome cartoonists! One of those performances will be by Theo Ellsworth, Amy Kuttab, and myself together for our collaborative party adventure comic called "Play Overlord" The party will be the debut event for this magical comic!!! I have also put together an art show full of many of portlands shining talents called "The Haunted Cartoon Vaults" which should blow and spook your mind in ways unexpected!!! At the party you will also be fed snacks and beers all night! ALL NIGHT!!! YES!!!
After you have crammed your backpacks full and blown all of your money on comics at the stumptown comics festival, and your head is spinning with cartoon characters dancing in the panels behind your eyes, you will be confused in a daze and thirst to see more MORE MOOOORRRREEE!!!!!!

In honor of Women's History Month this year, Guapo comics & coffee proudly presents an art show featuring a selection of female artists that they love!
All of the artists are women currently residing in Portland, who weave with an array of different textures their ideas and creative powers within the comics and illustration community.

Andrice Arp is a comic book artist, graphic designer, and fine art painter. She is regularly featured in the Fantagraphics anthology series Mome, the walls of giant robot galleries, and is co editor of Hi Horse comics. Her comics have a dream like quality that cover all ends of magical myth with a touch of romance.

Julia Gfrorer is a comic book artist, printer & fine artist. She is the author and artist most famous for her short comic Flesh & Bone of sparkplug comics. Julia makes possibly the most intense, dark, erotic, romantic and brutal, modern comics in print, yet they have a visual quality that lends them to a time that could lay anywhere between the 1700's to the future.

Natalie Howard is a comics artist and illustrator. She most recently put out quite possibly one of the most disgusting, mind melting, face twisting and thought provoking master works of gnarleyness in the mini comic variety. If you have not experienced "Mighty Twat Shot".................. Nothing can prepare you.

Amy Kuttab is a fine art oil painter, comic artist and is a witch who fly's not on the broom but on the paint brush handle. She is a co-member of the Pony Club gallery. She was most recently featured in the comics anthology study group 12 in a comic adaptation of a middle eastern folktale of her heritage.

Katy Ellis O'brien is a cartoonist, comic artist and fine art painter. Katy is a teacher of cartooning to the youth, and she is one of the main organizers behind the monthly zine Stumptwon Underground. To meet her is like meeting a familiar character you grew up with, except that character was an animal in human clothes on your t.v and in your story books. Her work shows more control and dominance over the line then one could dream of achieving.

Jennifer Parks is a comic artist, illustrator, and Co-member of the pony club gallery. Her world is filled with ghosts, charcoal, and ornamental gatherings. Her work without compromise tells the tale of that world in intensely rendered darkness. Jennifer was most recently featured in the comic anthology Study Group 12 with a tale of spirits that lurk someplace between your dreams and your window.

Elizabeth Pusack is a comic artist and illustrator. She makes powerful dreamy flashes of a past that has fallen out of modern society where emotions and attention to physical beings and textures beyond smooth plastic live and are alive with vibrating lines.

Pam Cameron - Snyder is a interdisciplinary artist. She meticulously crafts flowing strands of lines into mysterious symbols and life structures that deepen your sensory perspective on the elements of your life. She exudes darkness where there are no dark voids but with a hope in light where it barely peeks through thin lines in compositional harmony. Pam is currently working on a long format experimental graphic novel titled Wave Forms.

Daria Tessler is an illustrator, cartoonist, fine artist and master printer. Her fine detailed hand made prints can be found the world wide. She is regularly shown on the walls of Giant Robot galleries with her work that evokes other worlds and universes undiscovered by the human race aside from Daria.......... That is if Daria herself is even human? She aside from completing a childrens book, was most recently featured in the comic anthology Art Bureau.

Rebecca Artemisa Urias is a cartoonist, maker of magic trinkets & fine artist painter. She makes intimate spooky puzzles layed out like constilations, that evoke a danger and fear underneath a vail of a story book fantasy that draws you in and forces you to want to know its secrets. She most recently was in the comic anthology Art Bureau.

TAKE ME ON!!!

Above is an image I made for the upcoming 1st Thursday art openning at The Pony Club gallery. I have made 3 pieces in total to be part of the show celebrating one of the most sensational music videos of the 1980's for "Take on Me' by Aha. The music video (for those of you to young to remember, or low on memory) featured the band luring a young woman reading a wordless comic over coffee, to dive streight into the the comic itself to hang out, dance get shiny and romanticly gaze at eachother. I wont spoil where it goes from there.

Above is an oil painting of the band Aha made by Amy Kuttab that will also be featured in the show to make you swoon! I have also been able to see an animated flipbook made by Andrice Arp that I cant believe is real!!!
Each artist was given a set of stills from the video to vibe on and interpret in whatever medium they choose. I got real proggy with mine:)
The openning show party is This 1st thursday of Febuary from 6 to 10, and is open to see every Teusday through saturday 1pm to 6pm

Its been fun so far, my friend Theo (whose shop is in the works) and I took a tutorial from our buddy Andrice (who has one of the most magical shops of all Etsy!) and she got us geared in the right direction to have everything set up. Holidaze magic!!!

I made my Grandmother this Owl, that looks very much like her she is wide eyed and appears grumpy though that is often a facade. She was excited but had to say "OH, another Owl". Thankfully I have had years to know the differences in the glow of her eyes when she is excited or not. She told me she knew exactly the dresser top it belonged on facing her bed.
I made this Eagle for my Dad, who told my mom he was jealous of the 1st Owl image my grandmother was referring to (which was much more realistic) that i made her at least 4 years prior. My Dad told my mom that he wished he had one, but of an Eagle. My Dad wears a lot of the t-shirts one would collect at national monuments and air shows, and they suit him perfectly. He is the guy who is rad in monumental shirts! I was so happy he wanted something made by me, and so specific, but it took me several birthdays and Christmas's past to finally get to it. I did get to it and with the fierce majestic spirit of the eagle! My dad upon opening it zoned across all of its horizons with relaxed eyes and Dad grin wide. I almost died.
I have just begun making Jewelry, which will be for sale soon on my line I am calling "Charm Level". The above was made for my lady friend Amy. It features appropriate Dinosaurs, witch hat Nose and Eye for her charm needs. She told me I was the 1st boyfriend to give her jewelry, and that felt weird.....

Above is a set I made for my Sister. I saw her this morning and she was wearing them wich made me explode with excitement to see them in action. She told me she dug into her christmas gifts when she ran out of clean laundry to find her new hoody, socks, pants and top all matched the set I made her.
Lastly this is the set I made my Mom. She had sergury on her foot today, and told me she wanted to wear them so all her co-workers could marvel at them HA HA (she works at the hospital where the sergury took place)!!! but she was affraid of loosing them while under anesthesia so she didnt. I fealt awesome, nervouse, and wierded out simultaniously.

Some stuff that is cool!
I have a friend who has a birthday that is very soon!
That friend's name is Aaron.
Aaron has another name and that is Gejius!
Gejius is what happens when Aaron gets fired up and busts out on some keys with some out- of- this- universe dance jams to rock yer body!
Aaron / Gejius has been my friend and collaborator for several years now, and we have gathered our radness over many projects and songs. To put it lightly Aaron/ Gejius has enabled many of my dreams to come true!
Our 1st ever collaboration was how we really started work'n it together. We met at our crappy day job, and flooded over our mutual lust for certain french house music masters, and the other dance acts that at our day jobs made us sound and look like aliens in a corn field.
After displaying our rock finger actions and sharing what skills we individually had, it became clear that they must be merged!
I had an art show, and some very synthesizer inspired work to display, so Aaron started writing some mega jamz while vibing off of my peices. It was going so radly that Aaron asked if I'd add some vocals and come over to record. I almost died! ME! IN A SONG!!! YES!!!
The art show was rad, Aaron peformed a full set of all of the songs ispired by the work and we whipped out a package complete with the my work self printed with a cd of his music.
Some time later I directed a music video for the song my voice stretched across, and we crafted a dance performance and this was only the beginning of our radness togethor.
Since then we have recorded a project called Glass Moustache which we performed live 4 times so far to an awesome melt down of the audience! The music along with a comic will be released in the future. Aaron and I have collaborated on many further Gejius tracks along the way as well, the two of us co-writing mad hand claps and doing vocals together.
In honor of his BIRTHDAY I would like to present these NUGGETS of his RADNESS and a GIFT inspired by him FOR him.
This is a man I owe so much to. He is one of the only people who always believes in me no matter how ridiculous, and this is a man whose family bought me groceries when I was poor without question. Mega!

Ready for the Fall

October--that magic month of costumes and candy, uneasy walks, and late night fear is upon us. The oncoming cold and colorful fall leaves blowing through the air evoke thoughts of death and rebirth, of the layers of the world, and the secrets behind everything, how the world has many disguises as do the people in it. The spreading darkness and growing damp is part of the soul of the Northwest. Nothing better evokes this sense of thrilling mystery, eerie magic, and melancholy abandon than that great, iconic TV show of the Pacific Northwest, David Lynch and Mark Frost's Twin Peaks; Agent Dale Cooper and his need for a "damn fine cup o' coffee," sultry Audrey Horne, the Log Lady, and a murdered homecoming queen. It's a TV series that exudes all of the colors, smells, mythos and wondrous alien forests of our little corner of the world.

Guapo Comics has gathered together some of the Northwest's best and brightest cartoonists and artists to celebrate Twin Peaks and its intensity, fear, joy, and humor in an art show.

Ghostwood Forest debuts Friday, October 29th at 7pm. Free themed snacks and drinks will be available. And of coarse costumes are encouraged! At 9pm, the feature length Twin Peaks Pilot Episode will be screened.

I’m drunk, and I should be. I have had the worst week and a half ever and its going to be a while, and a lot of work till it gets better. I have been forced out of my home by bugs that were delivered by accident most likely on a birthday package from a friend who lives a million miles away whom I miss all the time. My girlfriend is sick and mad at me because my homeless problem is keeping me form being with her all the time. My comic that I have been slaving over has been heavily damaged at the hand of the bug problem, and my back is regressing into the pain zone all over again. Amidst all of this I am getting weird gilt trips from my mom. And then today I get the most bullshit invite from facebook ever!!! I have gotten this kind of thing before, but this time I can’t handle it! I make art work. I have shown and organized art shows in many places in Portland which is the city I live in, and also happens to be the city I was born in, in fact I have always lived here and never once lived anywhere else. In other words the term Portland native, and or Portland artists couldn’t be more me. The city of Portland in recent years has made a huge campaign over the importance of home grown local value and its importance and pride over its city and its wealth of creativity and beauty. This seems to have most heavily struck a cord in many transplants to Portland as something to live up to and in tern be proud of or possibly use to be accepted or something. I don’t know what the impetus is. But what I am tired of is this. I don’t want to receive messages that advertise the terms “A show of our favorite Portland artists” from a space run and owned by people who have moved here in less years then it takes to represent with the fingers of only one of my hands (and I have all 5 digits on both!). A space that in such short time has taken on to represent the city of Portland with a stereotype of NW values they adopted and weren’t raised in. Aaaand I especially don’t want that list of “A Show of our favorite Portland artists” to list a group of artists whom have lived here less then or equal to the same amount of digits previously mentioned! I especially don’t want the ENTIRE list of artists to be people who I know have only lived here barley long enough to count on one hand. For fucks sake! I don’t want those so called “Portland” artists to be people I fucking personally helped and encouraged to move here less then 6 months ago!!! I am a “Portland” artist. In an artist statement or bio for any other show in another city it would state that I am a “Portland artist”. It would state that because it is the city I am from, not the city I have recently resided in after living somewhere if not many other places for the 1st 18+ years of my life. Fuck, in Portland Maine it would state that I am a “NW Portland artist”! It’s a bummer for me to get an invitation to view and not be one of “ a show of our favorite Portland artists” when you and so few legitimately are. But it’s an even bigger bummer when you are invited to such a thing with such a statement from a space you have shown in many times, that knows your work. But what is truly offensive is being told that a bunch of people who are recent transplants to Portland, (an overgrowing city flowing with artists) are the “favorite “Portland artists”. That shit hurts. Maybe true Portland art is garbage, and I’m so “Portland” I cant see through any other eyes. But if you are going to play it like you are “Portland”, show some “NW tree hugger Green” style hospitality and be more sensitive.

I just picked up the new release "Everything Unseen" by Drew Beckmeyer at the Portland Zine Symposium (more on that later). Dave the "Rave" Nuss has found a jewel of raw beauty and futurez passion with this book!!! I am obsessed with it and I only finnished reading it the second time this morning and have only owned it 72 hours!!! I feel so lucky that this book lives with me!!! If you are unfamiliar with Beckmeyers work you should get all over his stuff, get yourself some juice and sit and melt with it for a while. He is truly brilliant, Beckmeyer just dove head first into comics like he has been at it for 20 years!

Yesterday Amy, Theo, Emily and I went and saw a Herzog movie called the Enigma Of Kaspar Hauser. It was totally rad! I enjoyed it most for all of its prompts for thought that it gave me. The story itself is full of mystery and questions, so you feel left with many. I found myself in a state of strange comfort simply listening to its Hero speaking. His voice had an interesting quality on its own and the character had a slow speech that gave you the feeling he was choosing his words with much care and visualizing them as a form coming from his mouth.
After the movie I began to experience a nearly mentionless itch at my 1st finger on my power hand. It seemed like just a harmless scratch from a passing bush along our walk to the theater.
Theo, Amy & I went and talked about the movie over a Beer. Over the coarse of conversation the drive to draw came over Amy, and she began doing portraits of the 2 of us on tiny squares. They were totally beautiful! Theo seemed to be at a loss without paper so I slid him my sketch pad and he began to go at it right away!
Soon Theo and I had the need for some Pizza conveniently across the way! We were each able to select our individual allotted topping and promptly pizza Jammed!
I asked Theo if he wanted to keep his drawing. With a glare of the unknown he left it in my hands.
The next morning (today) I woke up and was totally astonished and near panicked to find my finger who told me it was a little itchy, had swelled to enormous proportions!!! I was terrified. I did all of the things one must do to get it to a doctor, and made haste for it with the aid of Amy and our friend Arial as they set off to go to a waterfall adventure together.
Once at the Clinic, I needed to find something to occupy my mind and distract from my paranoid germy surroundings that are not dissimilar from my day job that I have negative feeling for as well. I found the comfort of Theo's sketch in my bag and it reminded me of a strange and magical story he told me a few days before about a magic and mysterious thing he happened upon. I began to draw and add on to it. It made me almost completely forget my troubled finger, and assured me it would all be ok and I would still be able to draw. Creation is powerful magic.

The Stumptown comics group couldn't fit us local doods in (It was Odd to see a full table go to a company that prints marvel themed mouse pads among others in place of actual comics creators, several of whom had tables cut in half to support the lack of space for demand.).

My Brother is rad. I don't know how to describe how he has grown, although I saw it all, and closer then any other living soul could have. But he has arrived in a new light more beautiful, intelligent and full of mysterious Power over the realm of symbols. He has used his prowess to move us all. He has surpassed my hopes for myself, though our visions were linked. I am so absolutely proud of him and cannot wait to see what is ahead in the future of our Brotherhood.

I am in a magical state of being. I feel as though my life is circulating with radness and bubbling beauty fizzing and tickling my senses all around. A couple days ago, I awoke at 4:30 AM for my day job to find I had nothing to eat in my fridge. I was upset and felt stuck. My routine had been shattered at the upstart. I tried to ignore it and move on- I would find energy soon and it would just have to happen a little later. As I exited my door I found hanging from the outside doorknob...... something familiar but......... new to my eyes! IT WAS THE FREE COMIC I AM IN!!! AND MY DEAR FRIEND JULIA'S NEW BOOK!!!! OH MAN!!!! I CANT BELIEVE ITS REAL!!!! I felt instantly validated, like I was real finally! I have never been in a professional publication before, and I am proud of what I made for it:) Later I was able to see the magic of boxes full of them waiting to be received by people all over the united states, maybe further, maybe one day even other planets!!! What is even more beautiful is that inside that publication, my work is hugged up against a super rad friend and was put together by super rad friends, and that next to a box full of our magic, were more boxes full of Julia's new book! The titles side by side waiting to be seen! Anyway, enough rambling. Be on the lookout doods! The magical makers of comics (the publishers Teenage Dinosaur, Sparkplug Comics, and Tugboat press)will be giving away the collection of comics dubbed "Dope Flounder", featuring Jesse Reklaw, Ian Sundahl, David Wien, Tom Lechner, Nichole Georgouse and of course me:). Hey Doods, Portlands Stumptown Comics fest is nearly here and everyone is busting out there finest comics jamz to strut and win over the thousands of fans that will be passing through the double tree's doors! But just before busting through the double tree double doors, you should come to the kickoff party at Guapo Comics and coffee! Its always a beautiful display of comics radness and debauchery.
This year they will be holding the Kukoc awards, focused on the finest Mini comics of the year with a special trophy hand designed and made by the super rad Andrice Arp! This years award comes with $450 in prizes graciously donated by, among others one of my favorite new comics publishers (of whom will be in attendance this year) Secret Acres! An array of new Mini's will be premiered at Guapo that night as well. The premiers include new works by mega pals Jesse Reklaw, Graham Kahler, Julia Gfrorer, and a new comic by Amy Kuttab in collaboration with me!

I am Excited to announce that on the coming November 1st Thursday Floating world comics will be having an art show featuring the work of Luke Ramsey, Theo Elsworth, Blaise Larmee, Kinoko, and Myself! During this last zine symposium Luke shared his time and radness with us when he made a visit to Oregon. We had a 5 or 6 hour mega drawing jam session on one of the hottest days in Oregon. What was made was a series of images starting with the theme of ghosts after discussing ghosts stories we had all had in our lives. Then it meandered through sweaty mind melts and the talk of the previous days events including a pack of asshole New Zealanders who attempted to destroy our friend Adam's Libido on a walk to a post symposium party. I won’t re tell the whole tale but here is this.
New Zealander: "Is that yer pecker or your balls mate"
Adam: "Its all five! Don’t touch my penis dood, that’s mine!"
New Zealander: "You can touch mine"
New Zealander on his back: "Negative Bulge mate"
The rest is history.

The show presents the collected art work in a new Island Folds Book "Negative Bulge".
The artwork in it will be on display along with new work by each artist. Sales and proceeds will go to Islands Folds to keep it rad!

I recently curated the new show at Guapo Comics & Coffee. I wanted to expore Mythological beasts between the current and the past. I had an insane amount of fun with this. I may have to make apoint of throwing this show every year!!! Such a nice lineup of mega pals displaying their beasts!!!

I substituted for Mega Pal Jesse Reklaw for his diary comic. He asked that we comic about our day but that at some point we meet up and hang out so he could have a cameo. It was super fun to do! That day I had been to my day job and I am usually up about 22 hours on those days. It was very hard to pack that much time in one page.

I made this image for a hospital benefit show. The show was like a million artists doing images of the curators favorite x-men character Kitty Pryde. The show was entitle "Full Of Pryde"

I was in an untitled and very impromptu show at the Pony Club where I displayed some lesser some art from the previous year that I felt really proud of and wanted to have up in a space again. Thanks Zack, Dave and David for giving me the opportunity to do just that!

I started a band with My Mega Bro Aaron. I have had an intense amount of fun as this is filling a zone in my life I had felt missing in some crazy digital way. We have been playing shows an putting together an album for about 3 months now. Below is a poster I made for one of the shows.

The above image was for a show at Tender Loving Empire That was themed by making art in ways that could be delivered through the U.S. Postal System called "Wish You Were Here". This occurred while the owners (the Mees's) were away on tour for Jared's band.

I made A new Mini Comic as the beginning of a series. This one is entitled "Miranda Baby". I finished it just in time for presentation at the Stumptown comics fest. I tabled with mega pal Jason levian of Floating World comics who graciously gave me a place to show off my books. We were also right next to my Mega Pal Dunja's Komikaze table. We had loads of weirdo fun with a lot of drunken nights and hangover tabling. Too many goodtimes and stories to include here. Ask me about it sometime:)

This is the hanging of a show in the new series of art show being held at Guapo Comics and Coffee. Hey doods.
So many mega pals and I were invited to be in a friendly style art show for the holiday season. We all made images that were square like a quilt block and made a beautiful friendship quilt of all our images on the walls of the Together gallery. The opening was Saturday November 29th and there was a massive (Seriously ENORMOUS!) attendance between the 30 some artists in the show and friends of them and the Together Gallery. It was truly beautiful and warm. Tim Karpinsky, David Wien, and Seth Neefus were exceptional hosts. The show went from sharing rad times with close friends and making new friends to hanging out with friends parents over drinks (Brodie your mom is my favorite fan ever!) and then having a sing along session in the dark at the gallery before casting off glowing with red cheeks in the cold night air. Thank you everyone who came. Aaron, Raquel, kaia, Julia, Brodie, Graham, Rebecca, Amy, Aaron & Ayumi, Seth, Tim, David, I love you dooders, you are the radness!

Whoa! What a weekend!

So I was invited by the magical Jesse Reklaw who does the super rad Slowave comics, to participate at Worstock about a week before it would open. Wordstock is a festival of sorts dedicated to all Literature stuffs basically. I was asked to do a workshop. I gathered myself and set out in a panic thinking about what I could pull together in a week. I went and roamed the city for about 2 hours to think it out. I finally sat down under the influence of a cup of coffee in the main headquarters of wordstock, “Powell’s City of Books” and began to work out the details of what was going to be the raddest workshop I could muster! At headquarters I ran into my buddy Kathy who calmed my nerves and anxiety of this new endeavor, she gave me mega good words of comfort and support. I decided the workshop would be about how to become your very own Jam Comics Champion, or “Jampion” if you will (thanks Brodestar!). It is going to be based on my general understanding of my jam comics group (Vortex Comics) and our nearly psychic connections to each other. Most importantly I wanted to make people inspired to be creative and work with friends, but make things that were super amazing quality comics. Surely the penis joke is hella funny, but not all jam comics have to end with a dick joke or nuclear holocaust. REALLY THEY DON’T!

Tiger Vendor from Vortex!

In mega production mode I decided I would try to put together at least a tiny mini comic from my Vortex comics jam group and have it available as an example of sorts.

I worked diligently at outlining the things I thought were important and then enlisted mega pal Catherine Peach to help and be my partner in the workshop. We worked in a panicked way over the next week to get Awesome. The workshop made many twists and turns but we finnaly came up with a solid pamphlet of sorts to hand out outlining all the major keys of being a Jampion!!!

Then We embarked on day 1 of Wordstock. On arrival Catherine and I had to center our radness, and then mega Pal Theo came and swooped in and we had celebrations of rock fingers all around!!! We made haste while taking notice of the enormous Alien seed in the convention center that was on display (was it real and filled with aliens or was it really just asculpture???). Jesse Welcomed Catherine and I, and got us all settled in nicely. We got to set up next to mega bro Dylan of Sparkplug comics and Theo who was to be helping him as well as sell his own new mega book “Capacity” along side his publishers (Secret Acres) other books. Mega Pals Brodie Kelly and Julia Gfrorer made there entrance and got rad at a table. Julia was to do a workshop on book binding and

beautifying you’re mini comic or zine.

The hours seemed to zoom by and then it was suddenly go time! I slammed a piece of pizza in the crowded

convention center hall, then chugged a burger that Brodie Generously purchased. Catherine and I set up and JAMMED!!! We got Awesome Jamming with Jesse, Julia, Brodie, Conch, Alex and dooders across the board! It was awesome and crazy fun!!! People seemed to like the Pamphlet and get a good laugh out of it as well. The only thing that could have made it radder was to have chairs and clipboards to enable more people to participate. Overall though I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and getting to know not only Jesse better, but so many rad dooders. John Isaacson! You’re the raddest!!!

Day 2 was Awsome!!! NO MEGA AWESOMEEEE!!!! It was a day of inspiration indeed. I had, had a bizarre night after day 1. It began with a lovely sit down and drink sessoion with Theo, Heather, Brodie and Julia. I had to call it an early night though, as I had to be to work early in the morning before making it back for round 2 at the convention center. On my way home I was alerted that one of my family members that I have particularly strong feelings (Long story) about had died. I followed it with a night of poor sleep. When I got up I had to be at work at 6am and then race to the Convention center immediately after. In transit I read and was lifted and rejuvenated by Jesse’s new mini simply called “Diary”. It’s a Diary of his recent book tour. It inspired me both as an artist and also to make my own. I have always wanted to log adventures in this format. However I felt like there was always too much radness to pack into a diary comic. He has it broken down so that large things over 3 or 4 hour periods are covered, it seems. This keeps it concise and engaging.

This is Jesse's Diary Comic for the 1st day of Wordstock.( Theo, Jules, Brodestar & I decided we should call Jesse everyday in intervals so we can always be in his comic.)

On arrival at the convention center Jesse was midway through his workshop and asked both Catherine and I if we had any dreams. He had been making fast comics on a large paper pad live from the crowd as they told him their dreams overnight. I had not dreamt much and was foggy on it from my poor sleep. Catherine had a pretty amazingly embarrassing dream that she squirmed through while Jesse and I burst out in Laughter. Jesse is very thorough and articulate with is questioning on the subject. It is obvious that he has been doing this for years, mastering this skill, and it shines on him in his every question expression, and flick of the pen. He got all the necessary points of Catherine’s dream to paper and we got settled. I was entranced making buttons at this table with 2 brothers of about 10 years of age or so. They were trying to raise money for their own computer by selling buttons they pre made, or for 50 cents more, buttons you designed yourself. They apparently had a tyrant of a father who wouldn’t let them use his computer for anything. One of the brothers had a shirt from a theme park of him riding a shark and his brother being eaten by the shark. His brother assured us that he had the same shirt in reverse.

These doods were clearly the radness, and they meant business! I made 3 crass pins (one for Brodestar, one for theo and myself), a pin of some new characters, I got a pin by Theo and Another of theo drawn by Jesse HAHA!!! Ridiculous!!! HAHA!!! I could have made pins forever!

John Isaacson did a rad print making demo of the coolest dino toy ever. Its part a transformer set called “Tamagoras”. I will likely be reading up on these for the next 2 days (thanks John).

Theo, Julia, Brodestar, Catherine and I all sat and soaked up the most inspirational talk by Lynda Barry. OOOOH Man!!! It was sooooooooo Good! I am not capable of describing the feeling it gave us all. The feeling deserves a new word that isn’t made of an existing language or even spoken in a frequency previously heard. If you could see me right now trying to release it, it looks something like the rock fingers with no pants on and a

load of ecstatic eye twitching and thigh jiggling!!!

We got Awesome afterwards under some booze and met up with mega lady Amy mega Bro Stefan and mega pal Marcella. It was a lovely evening with a lot to think about. We all seemed to have left our wordstock duties with new goals, fresh faces and inspiration to move into even radder zones that we as mega pals and individuals alike are capable and destined for!!!!

A friend of mine alerted me to this glowing review of the "What Are Crass" Performance for the Zinesters Talking festival. I'm unaware if I spoke to her personally, but she wrote a very detailed very comprehensive review that made me cry joyous tears!!!
Someone got it!!! She gives a dead on description of the comic that gave me faith in what I am Doing, and my wonderful collaborators/ mega bro's.

Kinoko gave me the opportunity at her space "The Wayward Cafe" to present a show, and I wanted to tour my 1st installment of "Livng To get radical". So Stefan Saito, Amy Kuttab and I packed up my pieces and hopped a train up to Seattle. Kinoko and her friend Danielle were very hospitable and provided us with super rad room and board in there house. We had mega times eating some extremly deliciouse vegan food at the Wayward and record shoping like squirles collecting all the best nuts all over the city! Kinoko has a space for 1st Thursday in a massive building made up of artist studio's where she sells her books, plushies, stickers, and original art.
We scoped out the place and Kinoko kindly threw my own stash of books up for sale in her space.
Awesome times were had by all!
Im excited to return when we will be throwing a shows end drawing party and then dance party in the same evening. If your in Seattle on the 3rd of May you should stop by and get radical with me. If your passing through between now and then you should still stop by and let me know what you thought:)

1st thing I wanna thank David Youngblood for having me in this wonderful show at the Pony Club! It turned out beautiful!!!

Next I wanna Thank Jason for hosting the raddest show yet with mega Team Stefan Saito, Catherine Peach, and me of coarse!
I also wanna thank everyone who came to the opening and supported the raddness! So many wonderful people I hadn't gotten to see during the months of preparation. The Gejius, Weston, Mary, Jackabee, The Hibert dudestars! Seriously, so nice to see you:)

March 1st Thursday at Floating World welcomes back Sean Christensen, founder of the Awesome But True Electric Institute, an art collective that includes artists from Portland and a growing global network of artists from all over the world. For this group show he is joined by two longtime friends and art collaborators, Catherine Peach and Stefan Saito.

For the show "Repeat After Me", the three friends produced an original series of works that flows like an illustrated game of telephone. One artist starts with an image of any kind, and then they pass it on to the next artist who interprets it with their own personal style and attention to detail. Then the 3rd artist just gets to see the 2nd illustration so their final drawing could be totally different than the original. The artists themselves are keeping the finished illustrations secret until the night of the show so even they don't know what the results will be. See each artist's interpretation of themes like space station inspectors, international bicycle races, 'Weekend At Bernies' themed dance parties, made up gods, and other electric awesomeness.

"Repeat After Me" runs through Mar. 31

It's been exactly a year since Sean's last show here at Floating World, and in the meantime he's curated shows at Reading Frenzy and been featured in shows at Pony Club, Moshi Moshi, Acorn, Grendel's Coffee, and other Portland galleries. He also produces new art zines on a very regular basis and directs music videos and art for local electronic musician, Gejius.

Catherine Peach recently moved back to Portland from Philadelphia. She got her BFA in painting at PNCA. Her work has been featured in shows at the Pony Club, Tender Loving Empire, and Floating World Comics. She says her work can be summed up with, "Unicorns, candy and cat girls… that's all you need in life.

Stefan Saito also graduated from PNCA with a degree in illustration. He is fascinated by cartoon characters and television, unintentionally structuring his oeuvre on the confusing relationship between Garfield and
Heathcliff.

So the next day Paper Rad stopped by town and I about died! Scoped out the exhibit, listened to them talk about being rad, and then watched there new children's show and got a pre-copy that still has me smiling ear to ear, simultaneously pooping my skinny jeans! Thank you guys!

WOW! What a night of maximum radology! I Met Jim Woodring and we traded Sketch book drawings at the opening for the beautiful friends of the Nib show at Floating World Comics. me and the mega pals Catherine Peach and Amy Kuttab swung then over to The Pony Club and the joint was hopp'n with swarms of radsters chek'n out all the wall business. A truly great turnout of people and artists among the wall. Great job Jennifer:)
Then we bounced into The Sugar Gallery next door to find mega pals Brody and Julia Gfrorer where she had a super hot mega show of erotic work! We danced and jammed to some daft Punk, and then we rolled over to Tender Loving Empire for our mega presentation of collaborative works. We met warm welcome and made valentines under the lime light of our hard labors of love among the wall. Met loads of new rad dooders Hung with old rad dooders and had a truly Awesome Night!!! Then I fell into bed with love at my side and watched Muppet Babies till I passed out:)
